North Africa and Arab countries have become the object of intense and enthusiastic interest over past few years. “The Arab Spring” has invoked reference to historical events that have revived inquiry into the geo-political importance of the region with focus on its relation with other countries of the world, its impact on domestic and regional power dynamics, and Arab agency. Broadly speaking, we are witnessing transitions in the region that are still in progress. The political development in the region presents many opportunities as well as challenges. Notably, in the context of North Africa and Arab world, there is active role of super powers, transnational actors, domestic agents and ideological forces. The dilemmas of rapid political change have made us revisit the region and its implication on contemporary international relations. What is the connection between the dynamics of domestic politics and regional powers? Is there a change in the distribution of power among the main players of the region? What do the changes imply for the neighboring states? What are the strategic interests of super powers? Who are the actors and agents of change? These are some of the key questions that the seminar looks forward to engage with. Themes of papers can include but are not limited to the following subjects:
-Actors and Agencies,
-Democratization and Popular Movement,
-Role of Super Powers,
-Role of Regional Actors,
-Impact on Arab-Israel Conflict,
- Role of African Union,
-Strategic Issues in North African Context,
-Pan Arab Concern.
