MEMBERSHIP
African Studies Association of India offers membership to individuals and institutions engaged or interested in African affairs. Membership activities are guided and monitored by the institute's Executive Council. Members of ASA play important role in governance, administration and general activities. The subscription period for all categories of members- both individual and institutional (except Life Members) is April 01 to March 31. This is irrespective of the date on which subscription was paid during the previous year. All membership (except Life Membership) has to be renewed every financial year. Members can also pay for a flexible period of up to ten years. 
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP  
Life Members
Life Members have the right to vote and serve as office bearers. They are part of ASA’s mailing list and receive regular updates about ASA activities and current Indo-African and African affairs through emails. They get concessions in the programme registration fee of ASA and are eligible for ASA travel support grants programmes. They get discounts on ASA publications. They also have the privilege of attending all the programmes of ASA. The life time membership fee is currently 15000/-
 
Members 
Members like  and have the right to vote and serve as office bearers. They are part of ASA’s mailing list and receive regular updates about ASA activities and current Indo-African and African affairs through emails. They get concessions in the programme registration fee of ASA and are eligible for ASA travel support grants programmes. They get discounts on ASA publications. They also have the privilege of attending all the programmes of ASA.The annual membership fee for member is currently  1500/- per year.
   
Institutional Members 
Institutional members are part of ASA’s mailing list and receive regular updates about ASA activities and current Indo-African and African affairs through emails. They get discounts on ASA publications. The institutional member through its representative has the right to vote by and have the privilege of attending all the programmes of ASA. Annual subscription fee for this membership category is Rs.5000/ -per year and 50,000 for life.

Membership Fees  
The membership fees under various categories are decided by the Executive Council and are subject to change.The Membership fees are charged as per  Indian Financial Year (1April - 31March). For latest membership fees please check with ASA Secretariat. The current fees for different categories of members are as follows:
 
Indian Members
Admission fee 
  • Rs. 500/-one time
Membership fees 
  • Rs. 15000/ for Life members 
  • Rs. 1500/- per financial year for  Annual Member   (Minimum two years)  
  • Rs. 5000/- per year for Institutional Member (Minimum 2 Years) or Rs. 50,000/- for life 
  • Rs. 50,000/- or more for donor members 
International Members
Admission fees  
  • US$50 one time only
Membership fees 
  • US$1000 for life.
  • US$50 financial year  (Minimum 2 Years) for Annual members
Institutional Member   
  • US$500 year (Minimum 2 Years)  or US$5000 onetime fee.
Donor Members    
  • US$5000 or more.
