A round table organised by ASA India and Centre for Africa Studies, JNU on "China and Africa: Perspective from India" will be initiated by Prof K. Mathews from Addis Abbaba University, Ethiopia and coordinated by Prof Denis Venter, former director Africa Institute, Pretoria,South Africa and currently Nelson Mandela chair professor at JNU on 7th of September at hall 203-SIS, JNU at 11 AM. Aims and Objectives 
The Aims and Objectives of the Association are as follows- 
  • To foster and promote the study, knowledge and understanding of African affairs in India and Indian affairs in Africa through research and studies.
  • To strengthen academic development in the inter-disciplinary field of African Studies through seminars, workshops, discussion, round table, study groups, conferences, symposia, research colloquia, journal and other publications, and by other means as may be of approved by the Executive Council. 
  • To establish the Institute of African Studies (IAS).To establish and maintain library and documentation services to facilitate the development of African Studies in India to encourage policy dialogue on African issues.
  • To promote and strengthen friendship and cooperation between India and African countries and peoples in political, economic, scientific, technological, environment, social, cultural, intellectual and other fields.
  • To cooperate with similar bodies to enhance international cooperation in African Studies.
